A Select Cypress Beam Above a Naples Outdoor Fireplace
Grain and Texture Over a Naples Outdoor Hearth
The focus of this Naples project was texture. The outdoor fireplace already had the scale it needed, so the beam above it was specified to bring warmth and visible grain to a space otherwise built entirely from stone, tile, and stucco.
Select cypress was the texture chosen. Its grain pattern is defined enough to be legible from seating distance while staying refined rather than rustic, which matched the finish level of the rest of the outdoor room.
Choosing a Texture That Reads from Across the Room
Outdoor living spaces are viewed from farther back than most interior rooms, and often in shifting natural light. A texture that looks convincing at arm’s length can flatten out entirely when seen from twelve feet away in bright afternoon sun.
Our textures are taken from actual wood species, so the grain carries real variation and depth instead of a repeating pattern. On this fireplace the beam holds its wood appearance whether it is catching direct sun at midday or lit only by the fire at night.
Heat, Humidity, and Salt Air Are Not a Factor
A beam mounted directly above a working firebox lives through constant heat cycling, and in Naples it does so in year round humidity with salt in the air. Timber in that position moves, checks, and loses its finish quickly.
High-density polyurethane holds dimensional stability through all of it. There is nothing in the material for moisture to swell, nothing for insects to bore into, and no sanding or resealing in the homeowner’s future.
Give Your Outdoor Room a Finished Focal Point
Fireplace beams can be produced to the exact width of a surround in any of our textures and finishes, and they arrive ready to mount with recommended adhesive and installation guidance included.
