Wrapped Mantle Beam Above an Outdoor Fireplace in Naples
A Mantle That Gives an Outdoor Fireplace Its Presence
This Naples project centered on a single element, the mantle above an outdoor fireplace. The homeowners wanted the hearth to anchor the entire outdoor living space rather than sit as a surface detail applied at the end of the build.
Diamond Resin Products supplied a wrapped mantle beam sized to the fireplace surround. Wrapping the beam on every visible face gives it the mass and shadow line of solid timber, which is what produces the regal, deliberately substantial look the design called for.
Why a Wrapped Profile Reads as Solid Timber
A wrapped mantle conceals its mounting entirely. There is no visible hardware, no seam running across the face, and no gap between the beam and the stone, so the eye reads one continuous piece of wood spanning the firebox.
Depth matters as much as length here. A mantle that projects too little disappears against the surround, while a properly proportioned wrap throws a shadow down across the stone and gives the fireplace a defined horizontal line visible from anywhere in the space.
A Mantle Built for an Open Air Hearth
Real timber above an outdoor fireplace in Southwest Florida has a short working life. Humidity, wind driven rain, and repeated heat cycling from the firebox cause splitting, cupping, and finish failure within a few seasons.
Our mantles are manufactured from high-density polyurethane, which does not absorb moisture, warp, or attract insects. The finish holds its color under Naples sun exposure and requires no annual sealing or refinishing to look the way it did on install day.
Specify a Mantle for Your Outdoor Living Space
Mantle beams ship ready to install and can be trimmed on site to match the exact width of a fireplace surround. Our team works from elevation drawings or field measurements to confirm sizing before anything is manufactured.
